Super 8 film to something else?

Posted on 2010.03.08 at 19:51
Current Music: Dan Baird - Lonely At The Top

Stefanie’s Dad came up last weekend, and he brought a whole bunch of reels of super 8 film that have various childhood things, family vacations, Stefanie’s bat mitzvah party and the like. Does anyone know how to get those turned into a DVD or something more permanent and more easily editable and watchable?

Like anything else in this country, it depends on how much you want to spend. Well, that and how much you trust other people with your possessions.

I know locally to me there is a business which does exactly what you're after, they copy VHS, HI8, even movies up to DVDs.

I know because I looked into it recently...there are specialized movie players you can get which project to a small screen, which are taped with a digital camcorder, along with inputs for your audio.

I dunno...if I were you, I'd hate to send this stuff off to some guy I found on the web. My advice would be to look locally for a company that does this.

I know someone locally who does this professionally, is very reliable and reasonable (price-wise). I had him convert a VCR tape to DVD and was very pleased. IOW, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. If you need contact info, let me know.
