Just in case you thought he wasn't a hypocrite...

I feel badly for Terri Schiavo's parents. They are doing what in many ways any parents should do, or at least what most parents would do. They are fighting for their daughter and what they see as her interest. Many of their supporters are another matter. Just in case you thought that the GOP leadership was really concerned about this except as a way to score points, here is the story of how Tom DeLay's family decided to take his father off of life support. Angry yet? You will be.

what a f*cking hypocrite!

It really makes me want to vomit, how Congress has usurped power from the judiciary--especially for something as trivial as this. States rights, only when they follow our orders; judicial conservatism, only when they rule our way; life for those we value (the brain dead, the "unborn," etc), death for everyone else (the poor, the retarded, the foreign).

You said a mouthful.

Maybe there is time for Terri Schiavo's parents to fly to Rome and make sure the Vatican keeps the Pope wired up.

The surprise is that the parents were not fighting to have the body cryogenically preserved so that future scientists could revive her.

As a parent who recently had a suicidal kid, I know all about fighting for one more chance. (So far, so good -- but depression can be a hydra) However, I also wonder if the parents were paying full freight, instead of Medicaid -- would they be fighting as hard. I am guessing the hospice care ran $50,000 per year. I have heard that there have been over 6 million in court costs, but I don't know how much of that got stuck on us taxpayers and how much was collected by right wing Christian fundraisers. A lot of people die in this country because they can't get medicine or adequate care until they are in crisis. It is crass to compare the worth of lives. But maybe necessary.

OK, the really crass part of me wanted to change the headlines from "Terri Schiavo: Dead" to "Terri Schiavo: Deader"
