Current Music: The Troggs - Feels Like A Woman
The case for which I was summonsed (the real word!) for was a drunk driving case, but I didn’t end up on the jury. I wouldn’t have minded doing it except that this week is really bad, and also that the courthouse is in Lowell, MA. Lowell is like a demilitarized zone, and the courthouse has only been marginally updated from its original 1849 construction. So not having to spend much time there is a good thing. Civic duty performed.

did you tell them you were a recovering alcoholic who had killed a family of 6 once in an accident you only sort of remember? Or just that you hang out with a bunch of cops for brew-skis after work most of the time (of course, drinking only the chosen beer- http://www.shmaltz.com/monumental.html)? i've actually wanted to be on a jury (like you say- better and worse times for it, for sure), but they won't ever let me. my brother's a cop, and they make me come in and sit the whole morning, enpanel (or something) the jury, then excuse me. it's 5 hours i will never get back.
