Current Music: Elvis Costello - Watching the Detectives (Single Version)
This guy in Australia is forever enshrined in Google Maps Street View passed out drunk on his front lawn. So it could be worse.

Well... I dunno. I don't have as much sympathy for the passed-out drunk. Maybe that is what he needs to remind him that alcohol poisoning isn't the best way to memorialize a fallen friend.

*shrugs* Usually I would agree, but if you're grieving your judgment can be way off. And then once you start, you can easily forget how much you've put away. But then, esp in that case, I wouldn't drink alone.

Since he was so upset and mourning a friend, I would personally give him a break.

Well, if the cabbie was a decent person, he/she would have tried to see if someone else was home to help the guy out, but he/she probably figured it wasn't their problem. And it certainly isn't in the job description, so...

I feel sorry for the guy, but you can't even see his face or his house, how could you tell who he is by this shot? Well, at least they took down the picture.

I just figured something out - if you don't want to be photographed passed out on your lawn, then don't pass out on your lawn. It's pretty amazing how far a little personal responsibility goes!

I see your point, but when you are passed out drunk in the front yard, at least partly lying in the street, I think you are pretty much beyond having some expectation of privacy. If they went into his own backyard or through a window or over a fence or something, then I would be more upset.

exactly. he passed out in a public place, where anyone could have taken a normal picture of him. it's not technology invading privacy, like people are saying on the news. it's an age-old journalistic debate about what can be shown. that doesn't even enter the debate- he's in public, people can see it, so a pic can be shown. if he was worried about his privacy, dead friend or not, he should drink at home... IN his home. there are probably security camera images of me like that around. great, now i'll never be president!
