Nature reserves in New Hampshire, the granite state, are not, it seems, at the addresses listed for them. We found this out while looking for the Great Bay nature reserve , and again for the John Hay nature reserve. We eventually found the first one, (which was nowhere near the given address). It ended up having two nice trails that we walked on where we saw some nice birds, good bay views, and tons of chipmunks, but the entrance was kind of off-putting:

Um, oh dear. Why did they feel that they had the need to point this out? Are they expecting hikers to find left-behind ordnance?

Well, the front was a scary gulag-looking place with barbed wire and lots of old concrete bunkers behind fences, so I was kind of glad to have an explanation for what the hell that was.
